Memorial Day 2016

Memorial Day Weekend is upon us and there are many local parades on tap on Monday, May 30th including:

Chappaqua -- parade begins at 11 a.m. at intersection of Ridgewood Terrace and Bedford Road (117).  Parade proceeds along Route 117 to King Street and continues down South Greeley Avenue to Memorial Circle at the Chappaqua train station. A ceremony will be held at the memorial. Parents dropping off band members, soccer players and boy/girl scouts marchers need to drop participants at the intersection of Elm Street and Rte. 120 between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.

Mt. Kisco -- The American Legion Post 136 of Mt. Kisco will hold its annual Memorial Day parade beginning at 10 a.m.   The parade route will begin at Oakwood Cemetery, traveling down Smith Street to Route 117, ending at the War Memorial, adjacent to the Village Hall and Library.  A service will be held at the memorial.  The public is invited to the Legion for refreshments upon the conclusion of the service.

Pleasantville -- the parade starts at 10 a.m. beginning at Bedford Road School and ending at Memorial Plaza where there will be a ceremony for veterans.

Bedford -- the parade begins at 11:15 a.m. at the corner of Seminary Road and Pound Ridge Road, then goes right on to Pound Ridge Road (Route 172) to the Village Green. Sponsored by the Bedford Fire Department and Bedford Village Lions Club.

Valhalla -- Parade starts on Westlake Drive at 9:30 a.m. and continues south on Columbus Avenue to the Village Green.  Hot dogs, ice cream and beverages are available afterwards at the American Legion Post 1038 on Legion Drive.

Yorktown Heights -- Memorial Day service begins at 11 a.m. followed by a parade, speeches and ceremony beginning at 11:15 a.m. at John "Jack" DeVito Gazebo, Yorktown Community & Cultural Center.
