Local Museums Are Beginning To Open

Are your kids getting bored at home? If you are looking for things to do these last few weeks of summer -- local museums are starting to open up! Here is a list of places that you might want to check out. For many of these museums, you can get free or reduced tickets at your local library. Click on the links below in pink to find out more information.

  • BOSCOBEL in Garrison, NY has reopened on a limited basis -- gardens and grounds only. The grounds are open from Friday to Monday (weekends only!) from 10 a.m. to dusk.
  • BRUCE MUSEUM in Greenwich, CT. Timed reservations are required; admission is free. The Bruce is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10-5; last admission is at 4:30.
  • DANBURY RAILWAY MUSEUM. is partially open on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. No reservations are needed.
  • HUDSON RIVER MUSEUM in Yonkers is open Thursday-Sunday from 12-5 p.m. Timed entry tickets and reservations are required.
  • KATONAH MUSEUM OF ART is open from Tuesday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Sunday from Noon- 5 p.m.  Timed reservations are required.
  • THE MARITIME AQUARIUM in Norwalk, CT is open every day from 10-5. Reservations are recommended.
  • STAMFORD MUSEUM AND NATURE CENTER in Stamford, CT is open every day from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. No advance reservations are required.
  • STORM KING ART CENTER in New Windsor, NY is open outside only  open Wednesday- Monday from 10 to 5:30 p.m. (Closed on Tuesdays). Timed reservations are required and they do have some sold-out dates. 
  • WASHINGTON IRVING'S SUNNYSIDE in Irvington is open to tour the grounds outside through September 13th. Advance reservations are required.

Westchester Children's Museum in Rye is still closed but they have a variety of virtual programs that young children can participate in from home.
