Apple Picking in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley

Apple picking season is here!  Here are some local places to go in Westchester County (and further north in the Hudson Valley) to pick apples plus find pumpkins and sweet treats such as cider donuts. Some orchards require advance reservations this year -- please check with the venue before leaving. Social distancing rules also apply at all orchards including reduced capacity.

Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm -- located in Yorktown Heights, this farm is open for apple picking. The farm has Gala, MacIntosh, Baldwin, Cortland and Macoun apples available to pick this month.  Later in October you will find Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and other varieties of apples to pick. Contact the farm in advance to find out exactly what is available.  The farm is open Wednesday through Monday from 10 am - 4:30 pm (closed on Tuesday). Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard -- Apple picking is available on weekends only (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 9 am - 5 pm at this farm in North Salem. Advance reservations are required. Harvest Moon will not be running any Fall Festivals this year. See their website for details or call 914-485-1210. Harvest Moon is located at 130 Hardscrabble Road, North Salem.

Stuart's Fruit Farm -- Stuart's has over 20 varieties of apples to pick in September and October and apple picking is underway.  September apples include: MacIntosh, Jonamac, Cortland, Macoun and Gala. The farm is open for picking daily from 10 am - 5 pm. Check their website for updated information before you go or call 914-245-2784. The farm is located at 62 Granite Springs Road, Granite Springs.

Outhouse Orchards -- This family owned and operated farm in North Salem is open for apple picking from 9 am - 5 pm daily. Reservations are required for apple picking (reserve a spot online). Other fun for kids includes a corn maze and hayrides. $5 parking fee on weekends. Lawrence Farms Orchards -- Located in Newburgh, NY (less than an hour from our area), this farm is currently picking ten varieties of apples plus other fruits and vegetables.  Lawrence Farms Orchards GPS address is 306 Frozen Ridge Road, Newburgh. Weed Orchards & Winery -- This 40 acre pick-your-own farm is located at 43 Mount Zion Road in Marlboro, NY (about an hour from our area). Their farm is open daily from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and  apple picking is underway. Free parking and free admission. For more information, visit their website or call 845-236-2684.

Fishkill Farms -- For more than just apple picking, check out Fishkill Farms which includes an apple orchard and diversified fruit and vegetable farm. In addition to 40 acres of apples, they grow peaches, nectarines, pears, a variety of vegetables and pumpkins, all of which are available in season for pick-your-own. Online reservations are required to pick your own fruit and vegetables (reservations are specific to what you want to pick). Open from 9 am - 5 pm (closed on Mondays), Fishkill Farms is located at 9 Fishkill Farm Road, Hopewell Junction, NY. Check out their website or call 845-897-4377 for more information. 

Barton Orchards -- This 120 acre farm is open daily from 11 am - 5 pm for apple picking. While their Haunted House is closed due to Covid rules many of their other attractions are open including tractor-pulled hay rides, live music and entertainment, petting zoo, fun park (weekends only) and corn maze (weekends only). They also have a new climbing course - Treetop Adventures - that requires an advance reservation. Barton Orchards is located at 63 Apple Tree Lane, Poughquag, NY. DuBois Farm -- apple picking season is in full swing at this 54-acre farm in Highland, NY.  This farm has free admission and free parking and is open daily from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.. Wilklow Orchards -- this farm in Highland, NY includes a wide variety of apple picking from now through the end of October. Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Wilklow Orchards is located at 341 Pancake Hollow Road in Highland. For more information, visit their website or call 845-691-2339.
