The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival (CCBF) will take place on Saturday, October 15 from 10 am-4 pm at the Chappaqua Train Station in Chappaqua, New York. This year’s Festival will be the largest one yet, with 160 authors in attendance.  We are looking forward to introducing the community to new writers and reconnecting with our authors who treat us to a visit year after year. Admission and parking are free and the event will be held rain or shine (http://www.ccbfestival.org/).

In its ninth year, the festival, promoting community, literacy and a return to normalcy, will have authors covering multiple genres and reading levels, author readings and special presentation, illustrator Demos, Book Signings and books for sale. Food will be available this year from gourmet food trucks and from the Chappaqua Farmers Market. CCBF will support literacy programs in area schools. This years’ theme will be “A Walk Through The Woods,” stemming from our stunning and poster art. We’ll have decorations and themed tables to bring even more excitement to a fun filled day of meeting our favorite authors in person.

Some of our favorite authors joining us this year include Dan Gutman, author of 160 children's books like The Genius Files series and his first graphic novel, My Weird School. Mike Curato, author of the winning graphic novel, Flamer also returns. Torrey Maldonado, author of What Lane? which garnered many starred reviews and was cited by Oprah and the New York Times for being an essential book to discuss racism, also returns this year.

We have several authors joining us this year who are new to CCBF and we are so excited! Some of those include Chris Barton, author of acclaimed nonfiction picture books including Dazzle Ships. His books have won several awards including a Sibert Honor. Another new addition to the Festival is, Christina Gonzalez, an Edgar® award-winning author of several books (“The Red Umbrella”) with two new book launches coming in August 2022 (just in time for CCBF!). Lisa Flipps, also joins us for the first time; she is an award-winning former journalist and author of the recently released “Starfish,” her debut novel.

The 2022 Festival's poster art was brilliantly done by Hudson Talbott an author and illustrator who has written and illustrated over 27 books, including the recently published “A Walk In The Words.”

The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival is a grassroots, all-volunteer effort, with community members working together so that children and teens can be inspired by their favorite authors.  The festival gives kids and families a chance to meet and interact with the creators of their favorite characters and to appreciate that there is a real person behind the art and the words on the page.

Since its inception in 2013, the Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival has grown from 65 authors to 160, and from 4,000 visitors, to 7,000 from all over the tri-state region. We hope to have approximately 8,000 visitors this year.
