Fireworks to Celebrate the 4th of July

There are plenty of places to see fireworks this weekend to celebrate our nation's birthday. Here is a rundown of fireworks celebrations in our area.

Thursday, June 30th -- Louis Engel Waterfront Park in Ossining.  Bring beach chairs, blankets and a picnic dinner to celebrate beginning at 7:30 p.m.  There will be live music and food available for purchase.  The fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.  Gather down by the river at 160 Westerly Road, Ossining.  After the Fireworks, the band Powderfinger will perform.

Saturday, July 2 -- Get a head-start on Independence Day with an evening of patriotic music, delicious picnics on the lawn, stilt-walkers, friends, family, and fireworks! An audience favorite, the 60-piece Westchester Symphonic Winds led by Curt Ebersole returns for an unforgettable performance of works steeped in American heritage. Guest appearances by Broadway heart-throb Ryan Silverman – currently performing with major symphony orchestras in a Frank Sinatra-themed showcase to honor Ol’ Blue Eyes’ 100th birthday – and exceptional euphonist John Palatucci ensure a night of swinging, Sousa-studded fun for the whole family. Plus, what Pops, Patriots & Fireworks celebration at Caramoor would be complete without a performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture? Tickets range from $30 - $85. Event begins at 8 p.m.  Caramoor is located at 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.  

Saturday, July 2nd. Pound Ridge hosts its annual fireworks celebration at their town park.  Fireworks will be held at dusk. 179 Westchester Avenue, Pound Ridge. 

Saturday, July 2nd -- United States Military Academy @ West Point hosts a fireworks show and concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. It’s only fitting to celebrate America’s independence with the Army’s oldest band. World-class music and a stunning fireworks display make this concert one you won’t want to miss! Admission is free. Trophy Point, West Point.

Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4th -- Playland Amusement park will have a special holiday fireworks show accompanied by a patriotic musical score.  Fireworks will be on the pier at 9:30 p.m. Rye Playland, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye.

Sunday, July 3 -- Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks.  Enjoy patriotic tunes and sparkling fireworks at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.  Pre-concert entertainment begins at 6 p.m. followed by the Bensen-Scott Big Band concert at 8 p.m. Fireworks will follow at approximately 9:15 p.m.  The Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway in Valhalla.  Admission and parking are free.  Bring chairs or blankets for seating.

Monday, July 4th -- Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow will hold a fireworks display at dusk.  Fireworks will be shot off at the old General Motors site. View the fireworks from Pierson Point in Tarrytown or Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow. 

Monday, July 4th -- Cap off your holiday evening with a viewing of the grand fireworks display at the New Rochelle waterfront. Produced and sponsored by the famous Grucci family, the City of New Rochelle’s annual “Spark the Sound” extravaganza will start at 9:30 pm, rain or shine. Optimum viewing locations are Hudson Park, Five Islands Park, and waterfront restaurants.
