New Middle School Fitness Class at CrossFit Immortal in Pleasantville

By Aidan Dunleavy September 26, 2017

My name is Aidan Dunleavy and my mom is the Editor/Publisher of Macaroni Kid Chappaqua. I play a lot of sports (baseball, basketball and soccer) but I wanted to find a fitness class where I could get stronger.  My mom found one just for kids my age at CrossFit Immortal in Pleasantville.  The class is for kids ages 11-14. I tried the class this week and it was really fun but pretty challenging.

The class was run by a trainer named Amanda and she was really great at explaining what to do. We started out with a warm-up which included 20 jumping jacks, 20 lunges and 20 mountain climber stretches. We then learned how to properly lift a barbell and did 5 sets of 5 back squats.  I could really feel it in my legs!

Next we did a 12 minute circuit that included three different exercises -- Burpees, Alternate Lunges and Sit-Ups.  12 minutes might not sound like a long time but it felt really long.  It was pretty hard but Amanda kept encouraging us to finish strong and all the kids in the class did really well. She also played music which made it more fun too.

The teen fitness class is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:40 - 4:30 p.m. CrossFit Immortal is located behind the post office in Pleasantville at 72 Memorial Plaza. Each class is $20 and you can buy a 10-pack of classes for $175. The first class is free so check it out! For more information, visit the CrossFit Immortal website or call 914-760-3051.
