Steffi Nossen School of Dance has Summer Experiences your dancer won’t want to miss! They have Camps and Intensives for a variety of ages, levels and disciplines. Exciting new Choreography Camp and Hip-Hop camp join Creative Movement, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Musical Theater Camps and Intensives. Build communication skills and self-assurance while exploring creativity in a small, intimate group setting. Camp options include:
- StoryBook Camp (June 10-August 12) (Ages 3-5) (3 locations; White Plains, Chappaqua & Ossining) provides preschoolers with a morning of movement, music and art with a different children’s story as the theme each week. Create dances to stories such as “Sleeping Beauty” and “Peter and the Wolf”, play instruments, build arts & crafts based on the story of the week, sing songs and more.
- Moving Wheels & Heels Adaptive Dance Intensive (June 17-22) combines technique, improvisation and movement to enhance creativity, increase strength and range of motion. Led by master teachers Barbara Verlezza, Sabatino Verlezza and Nancy Lushington, this integrated dance experience explores the joys of movement in a safe and supportive environment. Families and friends will be invited to a special showing and reception on Saturday. Wheelchairs are welcome.
- Adaptive Dance Camp for Kids and Youth (June 27-28 and July 1-2), a four-day dance program, is tailored to children with special needs. Youngsters 8 –15 years participate in dance, movement, and related arts activities in a warm, supportive and creative environment. Wheelchairs are welcome.
- Dance Camp (July 8th- July 19th) (Rising 1st - 5th grade) (2 locations; White Plains & Ossining) offers technique classes in Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Musical Theater. Dancers will also learn Dance History and Composition, choreographing their own dances. A showing on the last Friday showcases all of their work throughout the camp. No previous experience required.
- Musical Theater Kids Camp and Intensives (July 22nd - August 2nd) (Kids Camp- Rising Grades 2nd-5th) (Intensive: Rising Grades 6th-10th) are a wonderful opportunity to train with some of the best professional teachers in the Musical Theater field and hone in on your acting, voice and dancing skills. Performers will learn music and choreography from a variety of different Broadway Musicals.
- Choreography Camp (August 12-19) (Rising 3rd through 7th graders) an exploratory journey through dance and dance making, gives campers the tools to explore time, space, shapes, dynamics and relationships in dance and gives your rising choreographer the basic tools needed to find their own voices as story tellers and create their own masterpieces. Daily classes in Modern, Composition, Dance Notation and Dance Making will lead to a Showing at the end of the week with their own compositions. No previous dance experience required.
- Hip Hop Camp (August 19th – 23rd) (Rising 1st through 5thgraders) is for the kid who loves watching Kidz Bop Music Videos or is hooked with playing video game sensation, Fortnite and re-enacting the characters’ dance moves upon mission success. This camp is for the kid who is interested in learning more about basic Hip-Hop styles: Popping & Locking, B-boy, Breaking, Disc Scratching and more.
