My husband and I have been walking the streets in our neighborhood in Chappaqua to get exercise and to keep sane during this global health crisis. Last weekend, with the weather finally improving, we were looking for some different scenery. We decided to head over to my hometown, Croton-on-Hudson, and walk the path at Croton Landing.
Croton Landing has a paved, flat trail along the Hudson River that runs for about a mile. We actually made our walk a bit longer by parking in a lot when you first turn on to Elliot Way. We then walked north past Senasqua Park and the Croton Yacht Club to reach Croton Landing. There is something so soothing about walking along the water! It's an easy walk for families with young kids and the path is also open to walking your dog or riding your bike. There is a large grassy area along the way that would be a good spot for a picnic or just a place to sit and read a book. The path ends at the beautiful Memorial created for those who died from the Croton-on-Hudson/Town of Cortland area on September 11th. The Memorial is called "Reaching Through the Shadow" and features a statue of a woman reaching out towards a beam from the World Trade Center site.
Even on a beautiful sunny day, the path was not too crowded and people were wearing masks and adhering to social distancing rules. Croton-on-Hudson is just a 20 minute drive from our area and Croton Landing is definitely worth the trip!
Croton-on-Hudson can be reached off Route 9/9A (Senasqua Park exit). Put Elliot Way, Croton-on-Hudson in your GPS. There is parking along Elliot Way. For more information, visit the Village of Croton-on-Hudson website.
