Sam's Digital Services is a local, family-owned business that has been operating for four generations. In its early days, the focus was on cameras and equipment, and there was a storefront presence across Westchester County. As technology and needs changed over time, Sam's Digital services adapted to continue to offer quality services, this time through the digitalization of VHS, film, photos, slides, and DVDs. Lisa Kay is the granddaughter of the company founder and is committed to the preservation of special memories in easy to keep and easy to view formats. She's also a local and involved mom who raised her children in Chappaqua.
I was fortunate enough to work with Lisa in the fall and to hear more about the legacy of Sam's Digital Services. Lisa shares more about her business and its offers below in this Small Business Spotlight.
What is the story behind your business? How did you get started?
My family has owned Sam’s Camera Exchange for over 75 years. We had stores throughout Westchester County. When my dad retired about 5 years ago, he closed the final store. I decided to keep the digital transfer part of the business going.
What are some fun facts about you or your business?
My grandfather Sam started this business in 1939. He repaired transistor radios. I am 4th generation and have been working in the stores or the industry for 40 years.
What does your business offer its customers?
We convert home movies, videos, photos, slides, audio and DVDs to digital formats. Not just for safe storage and preservation, but also to make them easier to access, browse, enjoy and share. We offer free local pickup and delivery, so your precious memories are never put in the mail and are safe with us.
What are you most proud of?
Our attention to detail, personalized service and relationships with our customers. Many of them are repeat customers and have even become friends.
