In our lives, we have likely received extensive training on a number of topics, from school to work, driving a car to learning new systems. As I have gotten older, it's become more apparent to me, though, that despite all of the schooling I have attended, there are major parts of life that I feel woefully ill-prepared for. Parenting being one of them. What could be more important? And what kind of resources have we been introduced to? Sure, trial by fire is one way to do it, but having access to professional support can make all the difference between getting by and thriving.
As a certified parent coach, Allison works one-on-one with families, offering tailored guidance that meets their unique needs. Whether you’re navigating toddler tantrums, communication challenges with teens, or simply looking to strengthen your parent-child bond, her expertise provides a calm and reassuring presence. Her practical, relatable approach empowers parents to implement positive changes that have a lasting impact.
Allison shared with me how rewarding it is to see families grow closer and feel more equipped to tackle the day-to-day of parenting. She’s not just a coach—she’s a partner in your journey, cheering you on with insight and encouragement. With virtual and in-person coaching options, Allison makes her services accessible and convenient for busy parents.
When I first saw Allison's partnership with Pilates Loft for postpartum parents, I reached out to connect around such a needed resource. In our conversations it was clear that her guidance would be a tremendous support to my family as we navigate some life transitions and challenges. I'm looking forward to sharing more about out work together in an upcoming Parent-to-Parent Review. I can confidently say that if you are ready to parent with more ease, confidence, and joy, Allison’s coaching is the resource you’ve been waiting for.
What is the story behind your business? How did you get started?
While I officially opened my business in 2014, I guess you could say the story behind it dates back much further. I have always been curious to understand human behavior and moreover, to find connection with those around me. Studying Human Development in undergrad and pursuing a Masters in Clinical Social Work to become a psychotherapist were natural steps towards a career that would fulfill my deepest interests and match my desire to see and serve others.
The real turning point came in the earliest years of my work as a therapist, where I witnessed first hand both the unmatched joy and extreme challenges and complexities of parenthood. I found it so fascinating to observe the parallel development of parents and children, and the dynamic ways in which they shaped each other and I just knew that supporting families through pregnancy, postpartum, early childhood and beyond is where I was meant to be.
Adding coaching services to my business was really a result of my own pregnancy, postpartum and parenting journey. I already knew the value of understanding child and parent development, insight and self-understanding, social support, self-care and reflection practices, and emotional regulation and communication skills. But actually seeing and feeling the benefits as I moved through the transformation and challenges of parenthood lit a new fire in me.
I realized that nothing could fully prepare someone for the lived experience of parenthood but yet there were things that every parent could do to lighten the load of the constant growth, learning, and adaptation required along the way. This is what inspired me to expand my practice to include coaching and now allows me to provide personalized, practical support to even more parents and families.
My mission is to help parents not just survive the challenges of parenting but truly thrive in this stage of their lives, creating stronger, more connected relationships with their children and themselves. And it is my goal to reach as many parents as possible. Because every parent deserves and benefits from having someone to guide, support, and empower them. So they can best guide, support and empower their children. And a whole generation of families can move through their journeys with joy, resilience and purpose.
Supporting parents and families in their unique journeys is not just my profession—it’s my calling!
What are some fun facts about you and your work?
This all may sound big and serious but I am also funny (at least I think so!) and think humor plays a valuable role in navigating life and especially parenting. So you can expect a healthy dose to show up in our work together.
When I'm not working, I love to spend my time outdoors with the people I love, swimming, biking and hiking when it's warm and skiing and hiking in the winter. I also enjoy the solitude of reading and nurturing hobbies around gardening, art and music.
Like all parents I am always trying to find a balance of work, parenting and nourishing my individual identity and interests, with varying degrees of success!
What do you offer your clients?
I offer psychotherapy and coaching services tailored to individuals and couples navigating various stages of life and parenthood. Weekly sessions are required in the initial phase of work as this format best supports progress. All services are currently virtual.
My newest offering is a collaboration with Pilates Loft providing weekly Mommy and Me Pilates coupled with a New Moms Support group. Parents can bring their babies and enjoy a tailored postpartum workout and a nonjudgmental space to connect with other new moms and receive postpartum support in a group setting. This program is in person at Pilates Loft in Briarcliff and open to all Moms who've given birth in the past year and their pre-mobile babies.
*Psychotherapy Services
My therapy practice addresses anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship challenges, fertility and pregnancy loss, and the significant adjustments that come with pregnancy, postpartum, and all stages of parenthood. Using an integrative approach that combines psychodynamic therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and acceptance-based modalities, I help clients identify and address problematic patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building skills to cope with life’s stressors.
Therapy provides a space to gain insight into personal and family history, social and cultural influences, and the unique demands of parenthood. This insight, coupled with concrete skills and tools, fosters resilience and empowers individuals to make meaningful and lasting changes. I work with families across the entire family development life cycle, from birth to adulthood—including parents of adult children and grandparents—and welcome anyone seeking treatment for these issues at any life stage. Therapy services are available to residents of NY and NJ.
*Parent Coaching Services
As a pregnancy, postpartum, and parent coach, I work with parents to uncover their strengths, build confidence, and foster deeper connections with themselves, their children, and their partners. My coaching services are customized to support a wide range of goals, including:
-Preparing for a baby’s arrival
-Adjusting to the changes and demands of postpartum
-Navigating developmental stages or challenging behaviors
-Strengthening co-parenting relationships
-Improving daily routines and parenting strategies
Coaching is especially suited for parents who want to enhance their relationships or tackle specific challenges but aren’t necessarily navigating deeper problematic patterns. It’s about leveling up your parenting experience and providing clear, actionable steps toward your unique goals. Coaching services are available to parents in all states.
*What Sets My Practice Apart
Both my therapy and coaching approaches go beyond quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. While I offer practical tools, education, and strategies, I focus on empowering parents to develop sustainable methods they can trust and adapt throughout their parenting journey. I help parents deepen their understanding of themselves and their children, equipping them with the skills and confidence to navigate challenges with resilience and clarity.
Parents today are overwhelmed by endless online advice and one-size-fits-all parenting models. My goal is to help families break free from that cycle by building personalized practices rooted in self-awareness, child and parent development, and trust. By working together, parents leave sessions feeling prepared to handle whatever comes their way—ready to face challenges and embrace the joys of parenthood with confidence and intention.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud that my services honor the individuality of every parent and child. Each family is on its own unique journey, and so much of life’s distress stems from feeling misaligned with external expectations or societal values. My work focuses on helping parents truly see themselves and their children, identify what matters most to them, and to use those their unique needs and values as the North Star guiding their movement through parenthood. This approach empowers families to find fulfillment and define success on their own terms.
I’m also deeply proud of the ripple effect this work creates. By supporting parents in breaking intergenerational patterns and fostering healthier dynamics, we’re not just transforming individual families—we’re shaping the future. One parent and one family at a time, the changes we make today have the power to create a more compassionate, connected, and resilient next generation.
Anything else you would like to share?
I am so excited to be building my presence and expanding my reach to support more parents in Westchester and beyond. Having worked part-time since my oldest was born 7 years ago my business is in a phase of transition and entering a new stage. Now that my youngest is in kindergarten I am returning my focus to growing the business and services and introducing myself to the broader community for the first time. The process is both terrifying and thrilling, just like parenthood! I can't wait to see what's to come and for all the new connections to be made.
