Rockefeller State Park Preserve is an environmental gem in Pleasantville. It has expansive trails, including trails for horseback riding. Trail maps are available at the visitors' center, as well as posted in multiple locations at the entrance, near the restrooms, and at the beginning of trails. Activities take place frequently, including guided hikes. There are several different places to explore within the preserve, and the main entrance is located at 125 Phelps Way. Rockwood Hall is also part of the preserve, and parking can be found closer to Phelps Memorial Hospital. Rockwood Hall has Hudson River views and paved trails (although hilly).
This is a great spot to get out in nature year-round with the family, but as it is a preserve, it is not for sledding, picnicking, or sports play.
Be mindful of ticks and poison ivy. Although the trails are well maintained, both are plentiful.
There is a lake (Swan Lake) with a trail surrounding it that is good for stroller walks. You can also spot turtles and ducks.
This is a carry-in carry out facility.
Dogs are welcome.
Bathrooms available.
