Kensico Dam is one of our family friendly spots and a huge piece of Westchester County living. From festivals, to the Winter Wonderland Drive-Through Light Show, a newly renovated playground, a 9/11 Memorial, and ample space for walking, exercising, and recreation, Kensico Dam is a true hub. All throughout the year you can expect to find special events and cultural celebrations. On any given afternoon or weekend morning, you'll see groups of moms exercising, walking meet-ups taking place, a birthday party and the playground, and so much more.
The playground was recently renovated and is extensive. There are many places to sit, including benches and picnic tables, as well as a large play structure for the big kids, and a smaller, but equally entertaining one for the littles. The playground includes ramps, as well as accessible swings. Baby swings, partner swings, and big kid swings are also available.
Children enjoy the climbing walls, as well as the high slide on the larger structure. There is also a steep hike available to the top of the dam, which offers a flat walk and beautiful views of the reservoir.
Food trucks and ice cream trucks are often found here.
The playground is not enclosed and there are public bathrooms nearby. Parking is free.
