Sugarfest 2020 at Westmoreland will be on September 26 & 27.
A pancake breakfast with live music provided by musician Steve Kelman. Following each breakfast seating is our interactive MAPLE SUGARING THROUGH THE AGES program. Join us as we take a look at the evolution of making maple syrup. We will explore the harvesting and processing techniques used by the Native Americans and early colonists. Please come relive what it was like to make maple syrup in the 1800's and learn the science behind it! Discover the physics and organic chemistry that make sap production unique to North American Sugar Maple Trees. Then we’ll learn how to tap a tree and even test ourselves to see if we can tell the difference between 100% maple syrup and imitation syrup.
