We have been on a mission to make the most of the amazing library resources in Westchester County by getting to know them better in 2024! Each library in Westchester County has its own distinctive feel and each also brings its own unique flavor to its community. Whether it's an extensive play space, concerts, high-quality programming, dual-language offers, or even pets, we are finding all the special features each one offers.
Another scenic drive towards the northeastern most edges of Westchester County brought us to Lewisboro Library in South Salem one recent weekend afternoon. The children's room is warm and welcoming with favorite characters, both stuffed and painted, decorating the shelves. A play area includes a train table and kitchen, as well as coloring materials. A Family Fun Collage program had taken place that morning and there were plenty others on the calendar such as toddler yoga, family storytimes, and even Taylor Swift bracelet making.
One of the friendly librarians from the main room came in to chat, snuggle the baby, and share in the fun. We felt very much at home all cozied up in the stacks. Lewisboro Library is another great example of the importance of book displays and accessibility. The covers were facing out in as many places as possible and there were plenty of themed bins within easy reach. My littles befriended others while playing with the talking Llama Llama doll - that was such a hit.
I'm loving getting to know our Westchester County community even better with all of these library stops.
