Ah, the heart of fall. The trees are blazing with color, flannel is in full swing, and Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is back! In our Armonk, Chappaqua, Mount Kisco, Pleasantville community we have the benefit of a central location that makes access to a variety of spots possible. At the same time, we are busy parents often short on time and while the whole of the Hudson Valley has much to offer during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, I’m centering this article on the MacKID model of the hyper-local with a few outliers sprinkled in.
Below you’ll read about my personal favorite participating restaurants in the Armonk – Chappaqua – Mount Kisco – Pleasantville area and slightly beyond. Good for date night:
La Camelia Restaurant, Mount Kisco
The Spanish and Portuguese flavors of La Camelia do not disappoint. After our first restaurant week experience here, my husband and I came back almost immediately to try the regular menu. The setting is intimate and the service so warm. Seasonal, local produce (many items grown on the premises!) make for incredibly fresh tapas.I especially like the seafood dishes.
Crabtree Kittle House, Chappaqua
A Chappaqua staple, it’s the kind of place that if you are not from the town itself and have already made a habit of going for special occasions, you are going to want to try for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. The prix fix menu gets you in the door for an experience that’s likely more elevated than your usual go-to (unless you’re just fancy, and then good for you!). The kittle kale Salad and branzino are my favs while my husband loves the gnocchi and pork. Dress up a bit and treat yourself! In no way stuffy, the estate just make you want to straighten your shoulders while you sip your cocktail.
Groups and families:
The Beehive, Armonk
Good for families with post-toddler kids (there’s a ramp into the restaurant, but the sign reads no strollers and while the very gracious staff did accommodate ours – for my own sanity I would not do it again!), and great for groups, friends, and double dates. The Beehive has an extensive menu with many classic favorites.
Just Outside of the Neighborhood
Birdsall House, Peekskill
A craft beer gastropub, Birdsall House is a fun evening out with your partner or friends.
Apropos Restaurant at The Abbey Inn, Peekskill
Love everything about this place from the ambience to the service to the craft cocktails. The Mediterranean flair is complemented by the local ingredients of our bountiful Hudson Valley.
A Scenic Drive Away:
Cathryn’s Tuscan Grill, Cold Spring
Who doesn’t love a visit to Cold Spring? Walk by the river, peruse the shops. Dinner at Cathryn’s is how a day like that should end. It’s Tuscan, it’s cozy, and you’ll leave with a full belly and happy heart. The outdoor garden is just as nice as the indoor space and the heat lamps make it possible.
Venturing Further:
The Bocuse Restaurant | Classic French Cuisine in Hyde Park, NY
The Bocuse Restaurant is especially fun for a special occasion. This French fine dining experience takes place at The Culinary Institute of America and the students and faculty staff the restaurant.
